Dr. Steve Button, Elder
Steve and his wife, Kathy, came to Prescott in January 2020 to be with Kathy’s mother after Kathy’s father passed away. They had visited Prescott for the 18 years her parents had lived here. It was more like coming home than moving to a new community. They have two children and eight grandchildren, all still living in California.
Steve entered full time Christian ministry shortly after college, serving as a youth pastor and music/worship leader before becoming a senior (sole) pastor. During that time, he also managed a Christian bookstore, taught school, became a school principal, served on a church youth camp board, and became an author. Not all at once of course, but over a 40-year period of ministry.
He received a B.A in music from Los Angeles Baptist College (now Master’s University), a Master of Divinity from Talbot Seminary in Bible exposition, and Doctor of Ministry from Corban University.
Currently, Steve regularly teaches an adult Sunday school class as well as the occasional core seminar and pulpit preaching. He provides insight and oversight into the general functioning of the church, with a special focus on adult education. He is always available for hospital visitation, and even serves as a pianist and chaplain for YRMC.
Steve loves the opportunity to teach and preach, but working alongside godly men in cooperative leadership is a rich experience.
The emphasis on the gospel message, and a gospel culture formed around an intergenerational ministry designed to keep the bond of unity are things that drew him to Solid Rock.
