Born at Fort Sill, OK (army brat), and raised in So. Cal., John received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord on December 12, 1971, while on an overseas college semester in Salzburg, Austria.
In 1978, John met and married the earthly love of his life, Marjy (Ree), and they have been happily together for going on forty-five years. John and Ree came to Prescott in the fall of 2018 and to Solid Rock in the spring of 2019. They instantly felt welcomed and at home and have loved being involved ever since.
From the beginning, he had a desire to know and understand Scripture. This soon led to a desire to encourage other believers through a Bible-teaching ministry. After about fourteen years in pastoral ministry, John determined that God had called him to minister as a non-vocational servant/teacher and to pursue secular employment. This came to realization through his ensuing 14 years as a technical writer/trainer, ending in retirement from California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo) Advancement Services in 2010.
John has earned degrees of a Bachelor in Speech, a Master of Religious Education, and a Master of Divinity.
John is involved in the teaching ministry of the church. He also assists in the new member process. He loves Bible teaching and feels blessed at every opportunity God gives him here at Solid Rock.
He says, “All the other churches I’ve been in play at church – this church has a vision and purpose for what the church ought to be and is taking solid steps to accomplish that vision and purpose.”
