DeeAna is a native Californian who moved to the Prescott area in 2005. She was born and raised in the Los Angeles area where she attended USC and UCLA, graduating with honors with a degree in anthropology. Post-graduate education included studies in education and accounting at Cal State University in Long Beach and UCLA. This training was utilized as a kindergarten teacher and, subsequently, as a medical office bookkeeper and doctor’s assistant on a part-time basis.
Gordon and DeeAna were married in 1969, living most of the time after that in Big Bear City, California, where Gordon was the Associate Director of Camping for the Long Beach YMCA. They are blessed to be parents of three children and grandparents of two.
DeeAna has been involved in children’s ministry as a volunteer since 1975 when her daughter’s three-year-old Sunday school class needed a teacher. Over the years she has been privileged to serve as a Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, director, and commander, and coordinator of children’s ministries.
In January 2007 DeeAna joined the staff of First Baptist Church of Prescott in the part-time position of Director of Children’s Ministries. The primary focus of these ministries is to partner with parents to birth and develop young disciples who are experiencing life in Christ and growing in their demonstration of Christ-like relationships in their homes, with their peers, and in the community.
“…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
